Biography
Gerard is widely recognised as an impressive public speaker. He has spoken several times at the International Monetary Fund, Institute of International Finance, World Economic Forum, Asian Infrastructure Bank, Asian Development Bank among other international fora.
He was asked by the Institute of International Finance to represent the financial sector in ‘The World Debate’ at the 2010 World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, which was televised live globally by the BBC. In 2005, he spoke in Beijing’s Great Hall of People at the EU-China Summit. In 2018 he gave a keynote speech at the inaugural Shanghai Import-Expo. More recently, he gave the keynote address at the Ukrainian Financial Forum, Kyiv, in 2019.
He frequently appears on TV and radio. Domestic appearances include the BBC’s flagship programmes: Newsnight, Question Time, Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, HardTalk, Panorama, as well as Sky News, Channel 4 News, ITV News among others. Meanwhile, he regularly speaks on international outlets including: BBC World Service, Bloomberg Surveillance, CNN International, CNBC Squawk Box, China’s CGTN, Japan’s NHK and India’s NDTV.
