Marie Crowe is an award-winning Irish sports broadcaster and journalist with more than fifteen years’ experience reporting on major sporting events across television, radio and print media. Known for her insightful analysis and engaging presentation style, she has become one of the most recognisable voices in Irish sports broadcasting.
Marie is a co-presenter of two flagship programmes on RTÉ Radio 1 – Sunday Sport and Inside Sport – where she leads coverage and discussion on the biggest stories in Irish and international sport. She also hosts television coverage of women’s international football matches on RTÉ, bringing in-depth reporting and expert commentary to a wide audience.
Her work has been widely recognised across the industry. In 2024, Marie was named Journalist of the Year , and she has also received a Royal Television Society Award for investigative journalism. Her reporting combines rigorous analysis with a clear passion for sport, enabling her to connect with both dedicated sports followers and broader audiences.
Marie’s career in sports media began early. While on college work experience with the Sunday Independent , she secured the opportunity to produce two pages of GAA coverage – a breakthrough that led to a six-year role with the newspaper. From there she expanded into broadcast journalism, delivering her first live sports report with Clare FM and going on to work with major broadcasters including Setanta Sports (now eir Sport), UTV Ireland and Sky Sports News .

Alongside her media career, Marie has also been involved in football as a player, having played for St Patrick’s Athletic . Her first-hand experience of competitive sport informs her reporting and analysis, bringing authenticity and perspective to her work.
Throughout her career, Marie has been a strong advocate for the visibility and representation of women in sport and sports media. Often one of the few female voices in the press box, she has used her platform to highlight the growth of women’s sport and the importance of inclusive opportunities within the industry.
As a speaker and host, Marie draws on her extensive experience in live broadcasting, sports journalism and elite sporting environments. Her talks explore themes including the evolution of modern sports media, the journey from sports fan to professional broadcaster, and the role of women in shaping the future of sport.
