Biography

Ronan O’Gara is one of Ireland’s most iconic rugby figures.

Over a 16-year professional career, he played at the heart of Munster Rugby and Irish Rugby, earning 128 caps for Ireland. He remains Ireland’s second-highest points scorer and is the leading points scorer in Six Nations history.

Ronan won three Triple Crowns, a Grand Slam in 2009, and played on three British and Irish Lions tours. He also ranks as the second most capped player in Heineken Cup history.

After retiring in 2013, Ronan quickly made his mark in coaching. He started at Racing 92 in France, then moved to New Zealand in 2018. There, he joined the Crusaders as assistant defense coach and helped lead the team to two Super Rugby titles.

He returned to France in 2019, becoming head coach of La Rochelle. In 2022, he made history again, winning the Heineken Champions Cup as both a player and a coach.
