Biography
Angelika Sharygina is a leading researcher, humanitarian, and policy advisor tackling misinformation, synthetic media, and AI ethics.
As the founder of a startup combating online disinformation targeted at children, she uses AI for social good. Her startup was selected as a winner of the Techstars Dublin startup competition.
Angelika is a frequent keynote speaker on digital threats, war zone media, and responsible AI use. Drawing on experience in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and other crisis regions, she bridges peacebuilding and digital resilience.
She holds a Master’s in International Relations from King’s College London and is currently a visiting Researcher at Trépel Lab, Trinity College Dublin, housed within the Global Brain Health Institute, Angelika is pursuing her PhD focused on disinformation and deepfakes.
She also works with Trust 3.0 as a Board Advisor on digital human rights and lectures at the New York Times School of Journalism.
She co-created Digital Information Aid with Techfugees, tackling disinformation, exploitation, and human trafficking among displaced populations.
Her work spans Afghanistan, Ukraine, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Ethiopia, where she mentors thousands of young people in digital literacy through the Digital Opportunity Trust.
Angelika has been recognised by the United Nations, TEDx, and the World Economic Forum. She appears in 133 Women Who Change the World (2023) alongside Greta Thunberg and was named in 30 under 30 Ireland for her impact on society.
